Park Academy: Botanical Latin March 1, 2012 1-3:30 pm Location: Presidio of San Francisco With a background in languages and experience at New York Botanical Garden, Al Luongo (currently a docent at San Francisco Botanical Garden, Presidio resident and volunteer) leads a brief introduction to the Latin names for plants and how the names are constructed, focusing on plants found in the GGNRA.

Park Academy: Life Histories and Conservation of Snowy Plovers and Sanderlings March 8, 2012 3-4:30 pm Location: Presidio of San Francisco Ornithologist, bird artist, and photographer Paul Donahue has studied shorebirds extensively for over 40 years, including work on shorebird conservation and research projects with the Manomet Center for Conservation Science and the Canadian WIldlife Service. Now a Pacifica resident, he spends considerable time observing the wintering Snowy Plovers and Sanderlings on Pacifica State Beach .
