Coho salmon have finally returned to Redwood Creek! Join park rangers for a special one-hour walk, during which you may see these amazing creatures, and witness them reaching the end of an epic three-year journey that has brought them back from the Pacific Ocean to the creek of their birth in the ancient forest of Muir Woods.
Salmon are endangered in Redwood Creek, and while there is no guarantee that we will see them, we will do our best.
One large (60 cm) and three small fish (30 cm) were already spotted downstream of Bridge 2 on Tuesday, January 24!
Meet at Muir Woods Visitor Center.
Entrance fee applies: $7 for adult, 16 years or older. Children free. Dress in layers. Easy walk on asphalted or boardwalk trail.
RSVP to (415) 388-2596.
Coho salmon is our 2012 Species of the Year! See www.sfnps.org/species to learn more about coho and other upcoming Species of the Year events.
