We need your help! Come out and lend a hand while enjoying the scenic landscapes of the Golden Gate National Parks. Your contribution is vital to the health of our parks and our community. We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout San Francisco, The Presidio, Marin, and San Mateo County. Many options do not require training or a lengthy time commitment and welcome drop-in volunteers. It’s a great way to meet others, as well as a fun and rewarding way to spend the day.

Habitat Restoration & Monitoring:
Enhance and restore vital native habitat and create wildlife corridors for threatened and endangered species. Activites include: removal of non-native plants, planting (winter season), litter removal, seed collection, fence construction, and invasive plant monitoring.

Native Plant Nurseries:
Grow and care for native plants. Activities include: transplanting seedlings, collecting seeds, planting, composting, and pruning plants.
- Fort Funston Nursery & Stewardship: Saturday, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. Location: Fort Funston, San Francisco
- Marin Headlands Nursery: Wednesdays, 1 PM-4 PM and Saturdays, 9 AM-Noon. Location: Marin Headlands, Sausalito

Landscape Maintenance & Historic Site Restoration:
Preserve and enhance beautiful landscapes and maintain historic buildings and grounds. Activities include: mulching, reseeding, weeding, pruning, planting, and litter removal.
- Alcatraz Historic Gardens: Wednesdays & Fridays, 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. Location: Alcatraz Island
- Area A (Presidio Shoreline) Landscape & Maintenance: Saturdays, 9 AM-Noon. Location: Presidio of San Francisco

- Fort Baker Stewardship: Every 1st Monday, 10 AM-Noon Location: Fort Baker, Sausalito
Trail Maintenance & Restoration:
Create a world-class trail system for our community to enjoy today and for years to come. Activities include: repairing and maintaining trails, constructing new routes, protecting sensitive natural habitat.

Beach Clean-ups & Stewardship:
Keep our coastline clean, safe, and beautiful. Activities include: collecting debris and refuse and participating in sand removal and groundskeeping.
