PRESIDIO PLANT PATROL

Volunteers working in the Presidio

Fridays, 14 pm

Join the Presidio Plant Patrol and help eradicate noxious weeds that pose threats to the native biodiversity of Presidio plants and animals. Come participate in “extreme restoration” in some of the more out-of-the-way natural areas of the Presidio and go after pampass grass, cape ivy, french broom, iceplant, and poison hemlock. Invasives watch out! 

 Individuals
 Register for a volunteer day. Drop-in individuals are welcome. Registration is not required for participation.

No cancellations due to rain. View the workday schedule.

Please arrive by 12:50 pm to fill out paperwork. We will be heading out to the work site no later than 1 pm. 

Groups
For groups of five or more volunteers, we can arrange a special project just for you. Visit our  Group Volunteers page for more information and to fill out the Group Project Request Form. Group projects must be confirmed in advance.

 Age/Skills/What to Bring

  • Volunteers ages 10 and up are welcome. Read our Youth and Family Guidelines Policy (PDF) for youth under the age of 15.
  • No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided. Fulfills community service requirements.
  • Bring the appropriate waiver forms (see below).
  • Please wear clothes that can get dirty, long pants, closed-toe shoes, layers for changing weather, and rain gear if necessary. Also, bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.

  • Youth/Adult: Complete the volunteer waiver (PDF). Volunteers under the age of 18 must have the parent/guardian approval section signed.

Directions from San Francisco: Head north on Van Ness Avenue. Turn left onto Bay Street. Turn right on Laguna to Marina Blvd. Follow Marina Blvd. past Marina Green and bear right into the Presidio. You’ll be on Mason Street. Make a left on Halleck and a right on Lincoln Blvd. The Transit Center is connected to La Terasse.
Directions from the North Bay: Follow Hwy-101 south across the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco. Take the Lombard/Downtown exit. Take your first right into the Presidio. Take an immediate right onto Gorgas Avenue. Make a left on Halleck and a right on Lincoln Blvd. The Transit Center is connected to La Terasse.
Directions from the South Bay: Take Interstate 280 north to San Francisco. Take the 19th Ave/Highway 1 exit. Follow 19th Avenue northbound. 19th Avenue will turn into Park Presidio. After the tunnel, Park Presidio will meet the 101 freeway. Stay in the right lane and take the Downtown/Marina exit. Continue in the right lane and take the Downtown/Lombard exit. Take your first right into the Presidio. Take an immediate right onto Gorgas Avenue. Make a left on Halleck and a right on Lincoln Blvd. The Transit Center is connected to La Terasse.
