Park Stewardship at Wolfback Ridge
This site contains a matrix of coastal scrub and grassland plant
communities. Located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, the silver lupine (Lupinus
albifrons) population found within the grassland supports a colony of endangered Mission blue butterflies.
Some of
the terrain is quite steep, providing awe-inspiring views. Much of the
restoration effort has involved extensive removal of French broom that
encroaches on critical butterfly habitat.
