2009 | Alcatraz | performance
Written By Ellen McGlaughin
Directed by Andrus Nichols and Ava Roy
As a part of a three year artistic residency on Alcatraz, We Players performed a modern adaptation of legend of Agamemnon, Iphigenia and Other Daughters. The play tells a story of seeking justice through vengeance, and the possibilities of justice through other means. Like the historic island on which the show was performed, the play includes themes of exile and imprisonment. The intersection of ancient mythology and modernity brings to light very fundamental qualities of humanity, justice and sacrifice.
