Volunteers participating in a beach cleanup

When: Friday August 23rd, 10 am - 2 pm

Where: Muir Beach

Did you know that there are five major garbage patches in our oceans, the largest being in the Pacific Ocean? Also known as trash gyres, these patches form when human-made waste is swept along marine currents and collects in the middle of the ocean.

Trash build-up on beaches contributes to these garbage patches if it's not stopped from drifting out to sea. Help protect our oceans by keeping the beaches in the Golden Gate National Parks clean.

This is a three-part summer series focusing on Rodeo Beach, Muir Beach, and Stinson Beach. Come learn what you can do to mitigate trash build-up in our oceans while enjoying our incredible Marin County beaches.

Guest artist Zach Pine will be joining for a sand globe creation and demonstration at noon. Check out Zach's work on his website.

Join us for a spectacularly fun time for all ages in your national park!
