It’s that time of the year again! Time to pitch in for California Coastal Cleanup Day and lend a hand throughout the Golden Gate National Parks and greater Bay Area! Mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, September 21. Let's make trash extinct!

How to Get Started

1. Choose a Site and Register. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. 

  • Individuals, families, and small groups: register online below.
  • Groups of 20 or more volunteers: please email volunteer@parksconservancy.org to register.

2. Cleanup Sites: View map or choose by location below.

3. On Saturday, 9/21 at 9 am, arrive at the cleanup site with:

  • Youth Volunteers (18 and under) - Bring a parent signed waiver: English waiver (PDF) | Spanish waiver (PDF).
  • Proper clothing—closed-toe shoes (no sandals), sunscreen, hat, and layers.
  • Your own reusable supplies! Limit waste by bringing your own bag or bucket, gloves, and water bottle if you have them. CONSERVE–BYO this year!

4. Learn more about Coastal Cleanup Day.

We need more people here! Nearly 80% of the trash we collect in San Francisco comes from the East side.

Age, Skills, What to Bring:

  • Age requirement varies by project. Read our Youth Policy Guidelines (PDF)for youth under the age of 15.

  • Bring your completed Volunteer Agreement Form (PDF). Volunteers under the age of 18 must have the parent/guardian approval section signed.

  • Wear clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Bring layers for changing weather and rain gear if necessary.

  • Bring a personal water bottle and sunscreen.

  • No experience necessary. Training and tools will be provided. Fulfills community service requirements.
