Nicolas T. Elsishans

As COO, Nicolas is in charge of the day-to-day functioning of the entire Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. He also holds the title of CFO and is responsible for overseeing the fiscal and business operations. Nicolas’s department reports include Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Interpretive Retail, and Visitor Services & Programs. He also leads new ventures and business planning.

For nearly 20, Nicolas has led as Deputy Director, COO/CFO and Managing Director some of the largest organizations in the Bay Area, including The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (de Young and Legion of Honor museums), The Edgewood Center for Children and Families, and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Nicolas has two undergraduate degrees – one from the Juilliard School in New York and one from the University of Southern California. He also holds two graduate degrees, including an MBA-Finance, from the University of Southern California. He has also done extensive post-graduate work in International Business management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and Corporate Finance at Stanford University.

Nicolas is on the Board of Trustees of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco and just rolled off a nine-year term on the Board of Trustees of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.

Nicolas lives in San Francisco with his husband of 22 years, Christopher J. Hayes, partner at the law firm of Borowsky & Hayes LLP, and two completely self-absorbed Siberian cats named Natasha and Anastasia. While not working, volunteering on boards or traveling, Nicolas and Christopher spend significant time savoring the amazing cocktail culture of San Francisco.
