Park Academy Class: Disease and Pest Management in Nurseries July 29, 2010 1-4:30 pm Location: Presidio of San Francisco IPM, or Integrative Pest Management, is vital to have a successful propagation season in the nursery. This class will help you learn the difference between the "good" and the "bad" bugs and how to get rid of the pests in a non-toxic manner. Presidio Plant Patrol July 30, 2010 Friday, 1-4 pm Location: Presidio of San Francisco Help eradicate noxious weeds that pose threats to the native biodiversity of Presidio plants and animals.
Alcatraz Historic Gardens July 30, 2010 Friday, 8:30 am-12:30 pm Location: Alcatraz Volunteer on Alcatraz and help grow and care for the Historic Gardens. Presidio Park Stewards July 31, 2010 Saturday, 9 am-Noon Location: Presidio of San Francisco Help enhance rare native plant habitat and create important wildlife corridors in the Presidio of San Francisco. Volunteer in the Golden Gate National Parks!
We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups, including many that do not require training or a lengthy time commitment, so that we can be sure to match your interests, skills, and available time. As a volunteer, you can contribute to Habitat Restoration, Landscaping & Gardening, Native Plant Nurseries, Trail Maintenance, Wildlife Monitoring, Education, Visitor Centers, Historic Landmarks & Cultural Resources, and much more. Programs and projects are located parkwide, including San Francisco, The Presidio, Marin, and San Mateo County.
