The Institute was created and is managed by individuals with a strong commitment to environmental and national park issues.
Key Staff
Greg Moore, Executive Director, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Greg has led the Conservancy for over 25 years, creating a nationally and internationally recognized conservation nonprofit organization. He serves on various national boards dealing with the preservation and enjoyment of America’s public lands and is responsible for securing much of the philanthropic support and overall executive direction for the Institute.
Cleveland Justis, Director, Institute at the Golden Gate
Cleve has led education initiatives and environmental institutes for much of the past 15 years and serves on numerous boards of organizations working to integrate business, environment, and social change. He oversees the strategic direction and garners community support for the Institute.
Cathie Barner, Director of Park Projects, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Cathie has been a project leader on Fort Baker’s conversion from post to park since the project’s conception. Prior to joining the Conservancy, she directed a nonprofit organization, Heritage Partners, which advanced preservation and environmental projects around the country.
Paula Vlamings, Institute Program Director, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Prior to the Institute, Paula's background has been primarily in the public policy arena, with positions at the California State Legislature, the 9th Circuit of U.S. Courts, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and the Presidio Trust of San Francisco. She has a B.S. in political science from Virginia Tech, and a Master's degree in Public Policy & Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
Nickie Kluge, Institute Marketing and Reservations Manager, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Nickie has a diverse background in the hospitality industry, environmental nonprofit sector, and technology arena. She has been responsible for marketing and partnership programs for a variety of organizations, including an eco-lodge, conservation foundation, environmental policy organizations, and technology firms. She has worked for nonprofit organizations in Latin America and the United States.
