The top of Bolinas Ridge offers bird’s-eye views up and down the San Andreas Rift Zone. The fault divides Olema Valley, sculpting a lovely, undulating terrain cloaked in forest and meadow, a landscape that sinks slowly beneath the waters of Tomales Bay in the north, and Bolinas Lagoon in the south.
The Bolinas Ridge Trail begins on the pastoral ridgeline east of Olema Valley, with parking off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
Especially popular with mountain bikers, the trail crosses rolling coastal rangeland, enters towering redwoods, and breaks into open chaparral before it reaches its southern trailhead at Alpine Road on Mt. Tamalpais—offering views of Bolinas Lagoon, Tomales Bay, and the Pacific Ocean along the way.
