 1.  WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE?

We collect personal information you choose to give us - such as your name, phone number, email, mailing address, payment details, and your communications with us – to run the Site and our services and to contact you by mail, email, phone, and if you opt in, text.

If you opt in to texts, we collect your mobile number, your opt-in/opt-out status, the date, time, and source of consent, and limited message-interaction data (for example, delivery status and STOP/HELP requests). We use this only to operate our texting program and meet legal and carrier requirements. Consent to receive texts is voluntary and not a condition of any purchase or donation. Disclosures about message frequency and possible carrier charges are described in our Terms of Use and in Section 6 below.

We collect information directly from you (for example, donations, registrations, purchases, forms, or messages), automatically via the Site (for example, cookies and similar technologies), and, where permitted, from service providers and public sources to keep records accurate.

 2.  HOW WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGY TO COLLECT INFORMATION.

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar tools to operate the Site, remember preferences, understand usage, and measure campaign effectiveness. Cookies are small text files on your device; session cookies expire when you close your browser, and persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.

You can manage cookies in your browser and, where available, through our cookie banner/manager. Disabling cookies may affect how the Site works. Our Services may not respond to “Do Not Track” signals; please use the controls to manage tracking.

SMS data (such as your number and opt status), is not collected via cookies and is not used for cross-context behavioral advertising.

 3.  SHARING OF YOUR INFORMATION

We share personal information as needed to operate our services:

  • At your direction;
  • With our affiliates;
  • With partners for events or co-sponsored programs (identified where applicable);
  • With service providers (for example, technology platforms, payment processors, email/SMS delivery, analytics);
  • In connection with organizational transactions; and
  • With authorities or others to comply with law, protect safety or rights, enforce our terms, or collect amounts owed.

If you opt in to texts, we may disclose your mobile number and related consent/interaction data to our SMS service providers solely to send messages on our behalf and to maintain compliance (for example, honoring STOP/HELP requests). Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We also do not sell or share SMS opt-in data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

 4.  THIRD PARTY TRACKING AND ONLINE ADVERTISING

We work with analytics and advertising partners that use cookies, pixels, SDKs, or similar tools to collect information about your browsing over time and across different sites, apps, and devices. This helps us understand usage, measure campaign effectiveness, and provide relevant content.

SMS data (such as your number and opt status) is not used for cross-context behavioral advertising and is not sold or shared for those purposes.

 5.  CONTROL OVER YOUR INFORMATION

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information by contacting us as described in “How to Contact Us.” We’ll respond consistent with our obligations and items such as recordkeeping or legal requirements. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages, though you may still receive non-marketing administrative emails.

 6.  TEXT MESSAGING (SMS) PRIVACY & OPT-OUT

If you provide your mobile number and opt in, the Conservancy may send donation and membership related text messages to that number. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is voluntary and not a condition of any purchase or donation.

We collect your number, your opt-in/opt-out status, the date, time, and source of consent, and limited interaction data to operate the program and meet legal and carrier requirements. We use this information to send messages you request and to honor opt-out and help requests. We may share SMS data with service providers solely to send messages on our behalf and support the program (for example, troubleshooting or preventing spam). Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. We also do not sell or share SMS opt-in data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

For texts, reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, or QUIT. You may receive a one-time confirmation message and then no further texts unless you opt in again. For help, reply HELP or contact membership@parksconservancy.org or (415) 561-3000. You can rejoin our text program by opting in again.

 7.  HOW WE STORE AND PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption for sensitive data, access controls, monitoring, appropriate retention, and vetting of service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we regularly review and improve our safeguards.

 8.  CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Conservancy does not knowingly collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 13 on this Site.  In the event that we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.  If you believe that we might have any information from a child under 13, please contact us at tellmemore@parksconservancy.org
