Join the Weed Watchers team as an Intern. The Weed
Watcher program is a volunteer-based invasive plant early detection
program. Weed Watchers survey trails and roads in spectacular
locations throughout the Golden Gate National Parks to identify weeds as
they first invade. Discovering weeds before they become
well-established is critical to reducing damage to ecosystem integrity,
preventing the loss of habitat for rare plants and animals, and
preventing costly natural resource management. Location
varies throughout San Mateo, San Francisco, and Marin counties.
Join
staff and lead volunteers on excursions to search for the priority
weeds of the park. Gain expertise on the native and invasive plants of the Bay Area, and learn to use your digital camera, smart phone, or GPS
unit to report weed sightings to park managers via the Internet.
Two internships based out of Fort Cronkhite in the Marin Headlands are usually available for a few months each Spring/Summer. For more information visit the Weed Watcher website.
