Construction has just been completed on a new scenic overlook located at one of the Presidio’s major park entrances and at the convergence of three major trails: the Coastal Trail, Bay Area Ridge Trail, and Anza Trail.
The Golden Gate Overlook offers a unique view over one of the world’s great landmarks, the Golden Gate Bridge, and opened in advance of the Bridge’s 75th anniversary celebration in May 2012.
Trail Improvements
In concert with visitor-experience improvements around the Golden Gate Bridge’s southeast plaza, a series of enhancements were completed along the trails surrounding the south side of the Bridge, including:
- Separate lanes for bicyclists and pedestrians to ameliorate safety.
- Bold new wayfinding signage.
- Improved trail grade to meet outdoor accessibility standards.
- Revitalized landscape with native plants.
