John Muir Laws, Nature Journal Club, Drawing Trees Part 2

This month we look at the whole tree. How do you draw overlapping branches, trunks, and foliage. We will take a close look at quick methods for suggesting leafy foliage and dense pine needles without getting lost in a leaf by leaf dissection. Learn how to use a flat brush to create foliage effects.

Bring a sketchbook, a few photos of trees, pencils, a watercolor kit, and a Flat Niji Waterbrush.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Bring your existing journaling kit if you have one. This workshop is free and open to the public. No experience necessary. $20 suggested donation.

Note: the venue for this workshop is Crissy Field Center in the Presidio. Doors will open at 12:15pm and you must ring the doorbell to be let into the building. We will meet in the gathering room to your left as you walk in.

Please note: Park Academy classes are meant as a special perk for volunteers, members, and employees. If you do not work for the Golden Gate National Parks, are not a member, or have not volunteered with us in the past year, a donation is encouraged. Volunteer or become a member today!
