The well at El Polin Spring

Explore El Polin Spring in the Presidio with us for a naturalist adventure and celebration of biodiversity! A bioblitz is a quick, intense survey of the species present. Hone your observation skills, become a field biologist for the day, and enjoy some nature in the city and friends! We will use iNaturalist to document the organisms we see.

This event is part of the City Nature Challenge, an annual four-day global bioblitz at the end of April, where cities are in a collaboration-meets-friendly-competition to see what can be accomplished when we all work toward a common goal. Our observations will count towards the San Francisco Bay Area team in the quest to beat LA.

Restrooms are available. Water and some snacks will be available at the meeting location. Please bring a reusable water bottle and your preferred snacks.

Difficulty: Easy. The walk includes traveling over paved & unpaved surfaces, varied terrain with some inclines and uneven surfaces. The terrain is suitable for baby carriers, strollers, and wheelchairs! Most of our exploration will be on-trail. Bring sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate layers of clothing.

Attendees automatically give permission for the Conservancy to use any photos taken at the event for marketing purposes and/or the website.

This event is for Parks Conservancy members only. If you are not a member, please join here.
