National Trails Day Volunteers

Got some free time this summer? We’ve got some free, fun, and productive activities for you— volunteering in the parks! Volunteering is a great way to get outside, explore your parks, spend time with friends and family, meet great folks, and make a positive impact in your community.

On almost every day of the week, there are projects happening in parks, where you can drop-in for a few hours without any prior training or ongoing commitment—and MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

You can try your hand at:

  • transplanting seedlings in our native plant nurseries
  • removing invasive weeds from our habitat restoration, garden, and landscape sites
  • cleaning our beaches and shorelines
  • maintaining and rehabbing our extensive trail systems
  • and much more...

Are you looking for a good workout or something a bit more meditative? Do you want to learn some new skills, put your skills to use, or just have fun? Are you looking to meet new people, or do you want to find some family-friendly activities?

Are you a morning person or are afternoon projects a better fit for you? Are weekdays or weekends better? Are you looking for an ongoing recurring activity, or do you just want to pop in for a few hours?

Do you want to explore new park sites or find something close to home? Are you looking for something to do in San Francisco? How about in Marin or San Mateo? Are you flying solo or do you have a group of friends, family members, or co-workers?

We’ve got something for nearly everyone and every situation. And our parks would love your help and TLC! Check out the options on our website:

Come out and give volunteering a try! It’s good for the park, it’s good for the community, and it’s good for you! Put your free time to good use and have a great time to boot.
