Water drops on fern

Muir Woods is known for its old-growth redwood forest - but there's more than just redwoods that grow here. From the clover-like leaves of the redwood sorrel that carpets the forest floor to the rare species like azelias and bleeding hearts, our ecosystem is unexpectedly diverse and complex. And there's a team of rangers dedicated to their care!

In the last 100 years, unintentional human impact - from rangers and visitors alike - has had a profound impact on the diversity of species and their distribution. Thankfully, the park vegetation specialists work to protect the native species while reducing the impact of invasives.

It's not often that they emerge from the forest to share their knowledge, so come enjoy this rare opportunity to ask our vegetation team questions and hear about their experiences in every corner of this special park.

This is part of our Earth Day weekend of programming.
