Reminder: This event will be all indoors. Suggested attire is "trail chic".

This year, Trails Forever will honor the centennial anniversary of Crissy Field aviation! Please join us for a special sit-down dinner inside one of the Presidio’s original airplane hangars, Building 937, on Friday, September 29, 2023, 6-10 p.m.

The story of Crissy Field is inexorably linked to the early history of aviation in the United States as it was the military’s first Air Coast Defense Station on the Pacific Coast. Research and innovation at Crissy Field helped develop the air power that proved essential. Here, flying records were set, long-distance flights started and ended, and early aviators charted territory above the clouds.

In the early 1920s along the edges of Crissy Field, the Army constructed hangars, workshops, and garages including buildings 926 and 937 on the west side. Both were large enough to accommodate up to 16 planes at a time. The 17,000-square-foot Building 937 was used to store three “flying boats” and, most recently, this building housed the massive amounts of wood that was used to construct benches and fixtures at the new Presidio Tunnel Tops.

Please join us at Trails Forever in celebrating this slice of GGNRA history! Thank you for caring not just for our beautiful parks, but also for the preservation of our past.
