Sunset at Rodeo Beach

Alison Taggart-Barone/Parks Conservancy

Join this NPS Ranger led hike to Battery Townsley, followed by a tour inside the historic WWII battery. While sharing the history of the battery, this program will focus on WWII’s impacts on the LGBTQ+ community, discrimination during the Lavender Scare, and the importance of sharing these stories today. Come celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with us!

This program starts with a 0.6 mile hike uphill on a paved trail. We will meet at the Coastal Trailhead at the Rodeo Beach Parking Lot and hike together to the battery. Bring layers, comfortable shoes, and a flashlight or headlamp, as we will conclude around sunset. The participant limit is 20 people, so call 415-331-1540 to reserve a spot.
