Mt. Tam West Peak Hike - Opportunities for Restoration

Led by Claire Mooney, ASLA

Join Claire Mooney, Deputy Director of the Parks Conservancy's Design & Planning Department to learn more about the opportunities and constraints for restoration of  West Peak. We will meet at the Quarry Lot, and hike approximately 20 minutes up the Mountain Top Trail to explore West Peak and the former Mill Valley Air Force Station. As we hike, we will discuss what recent technical studies have identified as opportunities and constraints for the site’s natural restoration, including conservation and enhancement of wetland and serpentine habitats. Those interested in a longer hike can continue on with the hike leaders to complete a three mile loop down the Arturo Trail and back the Lagunitas - Rock Springs Fire Road.

Claire Mooney is trained as an ecologist and landscape architect. She is a member of the project team exploring restoration alternatives at West Peak.
