Learn techniques to quickly and accurately draw mammals in the field. This workshop will focus on understanding key points of mammal anatomy that help you pose and draw mammals from any angle. Learn how to:
- Understand basic mammal skeletal structure and the key differentiations between major groups.
- Simplify complex muscle masses to essential lines.
- Rotate mammals and draw them from the front, three-quarter view, side and rear.
- Simple and easy to remember landmarks to help you capture the proportions and draw quickly.
All ages and ability levels welcome. $20 suggested donation.
For a google map to the meeting location, click here >>(the location is marked by the tree icon; free parking areas are marked by a blue "P".)
The class location is at Building 989 in the Presidio (behind the bathrooms next to the Warming Hut). Building 989 doesn’t actually have a street address (the Presidio can get pretty confusing – most of the buildings don’t have addresses!) It’s at the intersection of Long Avenue and Marine Drive, behind the bathrooms next to the Warming Hut Bookstore and Cafe. On the Google map above of the Warming Hut, building 989 is labeled “Pacific Coast Federation.” If you’re using mapquest or GPS, the best thing would be to go to the Warming Hut at 983 Marine Drive. We will put up a sign at the 989 building entrance and near the parking lot to point you in the right direction.
Please note: Park Academy classes are meant as a special perk for volunteers, members, and employees. If you do not work for the Golden Gate National Parks, are not a member, or have not volunteered with us in the past year, a donation is encouraged. Volunteer or become a member today!
