Where: El Polín, Presidio of San Francisco; specific meeting location will be in the confirmation email after registering. Registration is required.
Join us for a special edition of our queer and trans community days to reflect on the question, “What Kind of Ancestor do You Want to Be?” Who or what has been a guide or source of inspiration in your life as a queer and/or trans person? Through the lens of queer ecology, how might we see other beings in the natural world as ancestors? How do we see ourselves as queer and trans folks in this lineage, and how do we want to show up in this moment?
We’ll lead a guided meditation and a one-mile hike, hold space for person reflection, and facilitate small group community conversation. While we talk, we’ll also prepare native plant seeds to be planted this fall. We’ll have some hearty snacks to share – feel free to bring extras! Looking forward to this sweet opportunity to connect with you all.
Accessibility details: This event is fully outdoors. Masks will be optional, but please tune into the others around you and mask up when approaching anyone else wearing a mask. The hike will be about one mile, mostly flat with short stretches of moderate incline, and currently includes descending (not ascending) one flight of stairs. Please reach out with access needs and we will work with you to modify accordingly!
The Golden Gate National Parks programming is a cooperative parkwide effort of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Park Service, and the Presidio Trust.
