Coming in fall 2021: The Presidio Tunnel Tops! On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 we kicked off construction of the site at a “Groundmaking” celebration with the Presidio Trust, the National Park Service, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
This new 14-acre parkland will sit atop the Presidio Parkway and reconnect the Main Post to Crissy Field, offering a central destination for visitors and locals alike to launch their national park adventure in the Presidio and across the Golden Gate National Parks.
Youth were the stars, as youth leader Dylan Nepomuceno from our Crissy Field Center gave a great speech and got a shout-out from Speaker Pelosi! The Tunnel Tops will sport a brand-new Youth Campus with a three-acre interactive play area to connect kids with nature. Kindergarteners from the Presidio Early Education School, representing the future of our parks, were the first to "make ground" by throwing buckets of dirt on the site.

The Presidio Tunnel Tops is a park for all. With no admission fee and access to public transit, it is dedicated to serving all our communities through open spaces to grow, play, thrive, and connect more deeply with nature and one another.
This parkland is being created with generous philanthropic support from our community. To date, over $76.7 million has been raised of the $98 million fundraising goal. A public fundraising campaign for the community will launch in May 2020. To learn more, visit presidiotunneltops.org.
