Our favorite photos of 2024

As 2024 draws to an end, we find ourselves looking back on the moments we spent together in these special lands we call the Golden Gate national parks. From the tip of the Presidio Tunnel Tops and the ridges of Sweeney Ridge to the serene beaches of Marin County—and everywhere in between—this year has been extraordinary for the Parks Conservancy, our supporters, our volunteers, and the parklands themselves.

This photo is one of the first images ever taken of the San Francisco leaf-cutter bee (Trachusa gummifera) in its entirety. The bee had not been seen for decades before One Tam’s community science program found it in Marin County in 2024. This photo was taken by a professional biologist. Wildlife monitoring is conducted with appropriate training and handling under agency permits.
