A new waterfront cafe, Il Parco, is planning to open at the departure point on the Embarcadero serving thousands of visitors on daily ferries to Alcatraz Island, after a lease agreement was announced between the Parks Conservancy and Buen Rallo Hospitality Group.

Most visitors to the Embarcadero’s Pier 31 are there to board the ferry to Alcatraz Island. By next year, however, a new all-day café will give locals and tourists another reason to visit. Il Porto Café, from local restaurant operator Buen Rallo Hospitality Group, is slated to open in spring 2027 at the Alcatraz Landing, according to a press release from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

“Millions of people have built memories here, found connection to nature here, and discovered a sense of belonging here,” said Parks Conservancy President and CEO Christine Lehnertz as the Parks Conservancy raised $1.7 million for parks and celebrated 25 years of Crissy Field.
