About the Author
Kit Hinrichs is a renowned graphic designer and collector of American flags. He has coauthored several books, including Broad Stripes Bright Stars, Long May She Wave, Narrative Design, Stars & Stripes, The Pentagram Papers, and 100 American Flags. Over the past 50 years, Hinrichs has amassed a collection of more than 7,500 pieces of American flag memorabilia. His collection has been exhibited nationally in major museums, and his design work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, LACMA, and the Letterform Archive. Formerly a partner of Pentagram for 23 years, he is also an AIGA medalist and served on the board of Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) and ArtCenter College of Design.
