Backyard Bound

A large group of youth and youth workers gather around a banner reading Backyard Bound

Backyard Bound is an annual youth-developed and youth-led summit planned with the community for the community. Over 100 Bay Area youth convene at the Rob Hill Campground in the Golden Gate National Parks during Earth Week to explore youth leadership's role in the conversation of the environment. Youth interns from Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders (I-YEL) select a theme, spending four months coordinating workshops to lead at the summit. Over 7 different organizations bring up to 100 participants for this multi-day event. Young people engage with one another in fun team building activities and explore their national parks through hikes and site visits.
