Celebrate Earth Day, National Volunteer Week, and National Park Week

Celebrate Earth Day by giving back with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy! Join us in honoring Earth Day, National Volunteer Week, and National Park Week through hands-on volunteer opportunities in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Learn how environmental conservation, park stewardship, recreation, and science work together to protect these iconic public lands. Volunteers can take part in habitat restoration, park maintenance, trail stewardship, and community science projects that support healthy ecosystems. Whether you're new to volunteering or passionate about environmental stewardship, this Earth Day volunteer event in the Bay Area is a great way to connect with nature and make a meaningful impact.
In addition to Earth Day, celebrate National Park Week with us and bring any aspiring young rangers in your life to Junior Ranger Day in Muir Woods on April 18! This will be a fee free day, but please remember to reserve your parking in advance.

When: Saturday, April 18 – Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Where: Project locations vary throughout the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Groups
In addition to the public programs listed below, we have a number of group opportunities taking place over the weekend. If your group is interested, we encourage you to review the List of Available Projects and fill out the Group Project Request Form. Groups of five or more require special arrangements and must be confirmed in advance.
COVID & Illness Specific Guidelines
- Stay home and DO NOT attend if you: have any illness symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 or other viruses, or suspect you have had contact with a COVID-19 positive case.
- Face coverings and social distancing are encouraged, but not required.
