Power shutoff for wildfire safety: Updates for Muir Woods and the Golden Gate National Parks

Some national park sites within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area were closed Wednesday-Friday, October 9-11, due to PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoff.

Park sites were scheduled to reopen Saturday, October 12.

Though power is restored for most areas, these area closures REMAIN in effect for FRIDAY, 10/11

Muir Woods National Monument- all parking, and trails are closed. Muir Woods Trading Company is closed.

Muir Beach parking lot and Muir Beach overlook will be closed.  

The Rodeo Beach bathrooms and the Visitor Center in the Marin Headlands will be closed.

Stinson Beach parking and restrooms are still without power.  Stinson Beach will reopen as soon as power is restored in the area by PG&E.

On SATURDAY, October 12, ALL Marin County GGNRA sites will REOPEN and resume normal operations.

Cavallo Point: The Lodge at the Golden Gate and other Fort Baker sites like the Bay Area Discovery Museum still had power and were open during regular business hours throughout the shutdown.
