Sharing ways of observing and recording nature Laura Cunningham, author of A State of Change: Forgotten Landscapes off California (Heyday: 2010), will give a presentation about oil painting methods outdoors, easy field kits, some history of Plein Air painting (in the “open air”), and how oil painting can be combined with nature journaling. The many ways these methods informed the research for studio oil paintings will be revealed. She will also bring a variety of oil painting and sketching materials to give demonstrations, including her favorite lightweight custom oil sketch kit made for hiking!
The program is free and donations are encouraged. Bring your journal and a pencil to record important ideas and new tips.
