Celebrate National Public Lands Day with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area!

Join us on September 23, 2023 as we celebrate National Public Lands Day! This event was established in 1994 and celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits. This year marks the 30th year of National Public Lands Day. With habitat restoration, landscaping, and maintenance programs, there is something for everyone. Bring yourself, your friends, and your family! Registration required.
We are also celebrating Coastal Clean-up Day on the same day. More information and additional volunteer opportunities can be found here.
When: Saturday, September 23, 2023; all projects are from 9am - noon.
Where: Ocean Beach in San Francisco and various sites in Marin, see below for more details.

National Public Lands Day is special because it provides all lovers of the environment—old and new—an opportunity to show our appreciation for these unique places. Programs will celebrate the connection between people and green space in their community and inspire environmental stewardship.
9 am –Noon, Sutro Heights Landscaping and Maintenance (San Francisco)–Help preserve and enhance beautiful landscapes at Sutro Heights Park. Work will focus on vegetation management. Register Here
9 am –Noon, Presidio Habitat Stewards (San Francisco)–Restore and preserve the Pesidio’s natural areas. Register Here
9am-Noon, Crissy Field East Beach Maintenance (San Francisco) - Help preserve and maintain Crissy Field's East Beach. Project will focus mainly on sand removal from the vegetation beds and habitat restoration along on the beach. Register Here
Groups of five or more require special arrangements and must be confirmed in advance. Please review the List of Available Projects and fill out the Group Project Request Form.
