Celebrating California Coastal Clean-Up Day and National Public Lands Day 2023
Saturday, 9/23 in particular was a double whammy for the parks: It was both California Clean-Up Day and National Public Lands Day.
The numbers for #CoastalCleanupDay are in! Last Saturday, more than 450 volunteers donated over 1,350 hours of time to help clean up 11 different park sites in the #GGNRA.
On our beaches alone we picked up—drumroll please—over 1,500 pounds of trash! Whoa!
Last year, an incredible 22,000 pounds of trash and recyclables were removed from the beaches thanks to the helping hands of our community’s friends, families, and nature-lovers. We’re hoping to beat that number this
year!
A big thank-you to all the folks dedicated to keeping our coastlines beautiful, healthy, and lasting. If you couldn’t make it out to today’s clean-up, but are interested in other volunteer opportunities, stay updated by checking our upcoming events.
