The unlikely gardeners of Alcatraz

In partnership with the Insight Garden Program, and with the assist of the Parks Conservancy's Senior Program Manager of Alcatraz Island, Shelagh Fritz, NPS Ranger Oliver Goodman have begun a plant exchange with the incarcerated women at Central California Women’s Facility. The plants have been installed on the West Side of the island, where the gardens were tended to by incarcerated men during the island's time as a prison.
