Join the Nature Journal Club for a 1.5 hour workshop on an important fundamental skill: using gesture sketching and negative shapes to quickly get information down in your nature journal.

Come learn how to become a community scientist and monitor the changes in the Mt. Tam herpetofauna community.

Sharing ways of observing and recording nature Laura Cunningham, author of A State of Change: Forgotten Landscapes off California (Heyday: 2010), will give a presentation about oil painting methods outdoors, easy field kits, some history of Plein Air painting (in the ‰ЫПopen air‰Ыќ), and how oil painting can be combined with nature journaling.

Stemming from the Mt. Tam Science Summit held last fall, Marin Municipal Water District and San Francisco State University have begun inventorying pollinators, primarily bees. This is the first time this part of Marin has ever been surveyed for pollinators. Join us to learn how to collect, clean and prepare specimens. Ages 13 and up. RSVP required as space is limited.

During this event, we will teach you about the Wildlife Picture Index (WPI) and you will participate in the cataloging and identification of wildlife. By working in this group setting, an electric environment is created as people discover the many different beautiful and amazing wildlife that has been captured on these cameras. This session will be hosted by Marin Municipal Water District, a member of the Tamalpais Lands Collaborative.

This follow-up to the 2016 Mt. Tam Science Summit will feature an afternoon focused on the mountain‰ЫЄs wildlife. We‰ЫЄll share results from the Wildlife Picture Index Project‰ЫЄs first three years‰ЫЄ of data collection, as well as updates on other wildlife studies (such as bats and pollinators) coming out of last years‰ЫЄ Health of Mt. Tam report.

Come join us at Muir Woods to learn about bat ecology! We will have a brief discussion about bats and demonstrate how they are safely caught as part of an exciting bat monitoring and inventorying program.
