The new Battery East Vista features a picnic area with seating, bicycle parking, interpretive signage, improved wayfinding information, a revamped parking area, and enhanced visitor connections to two breathtaking trails in the Presidio.

In celebration of the National Park Service’s Centennial this year, organizations that serve youth in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) along with the San Francisco Public Library system invite 4^th graders and their families to join the fun in learning about what it takes to be an official National Park Service Junior Ranger.

San Francisco Public Library and The National Park Service (NPS) have teamed up this summer to keep children and families reading, creating, and exploring all summer long. 

Part scientific endeavor, part outdoor classroom excursion and part celebration of biodiversity and the spirit of exploration, BioBlitz 2014 will bring together 300 leading scientists and naturalists from around the country, more than 2,000 students, and thousands of Bay Area community members.

Opening September 27, 2014, @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz will feature a series of seven site-specific installations by artist Ai Weiwei in four locations on Alcatraz Island, offering a new cultural lens through which to experience the notorious military and federal penitentiary turned national park.

Join us to officially kick off the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Summer Service Initiative and Outdoor Youth Mentoring Program, following the conclusion of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service, on June 25 by volunteering in the Golden Gate National Parks.

Environmentalist, educator, 350.org co-founder and author Bill McKibben will be at Fort Baker in the Golden Gate National Parks on Sunday, November 7, 2010, to discuss “Food for the Parks,” the latest environmental initiative of the Institute at the Golden Gate.

The spectacular coastal promontory of Mori Point, one of the newest sites in the Golden Gate National Parks, will host a celebration on April 26, 10 am to 1 pm, honoring the ongoing trail work and habitat restoration.

Members of the Crissy Field Center staff will make a presentation at the Fourth International Conference on Environmental Education (ICEE) on November 26-28, 2007, in Ahmedabad, India.
