It’s time to tickle your funny bone! Sure, the parks can inspire reflective moments and everlasting memories, but these special places can also be hilarious in their own way.

During the frenzy of BioBlitz 2014 in the Golden Gate National Parks, we quietly launched a new campaign on Twitter called #ParkPuns to tap into the lighter side of the parks—and to showcase our own nerd-tastic humor.

With International Joke Day on July 1, we collected our most popular puns for your sharing pleasure:

Why didn't the dendrochronologist get married? S/He only ever dated trees.... #ParkPuns

What is the difference between a coyote and a flea? One howls on the prairie and the other prowls on the hairy. #ParkPuns

What did a bird of prey say when his wife laid a snowy plover egg? “Well, this is hawkward.” #ParkPuns

Why doesn’t @KarltheFog like seeing cities other than #SF? Because he’s a monogaMIST! #ParkPuns

What did @KarltheFog say to the @GGBridge after days of not seeing each other? I've mist you! #ParkPuns

What does a mission blue butterfly caterpillar do on New Year’s Day? It turns over a new leaf! #ParkPuns
