A former program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the Institute at the Golden Gate was conceived to incubate knowledge and innovation in parks. The Institute supported our vision for parks as a cornerstone of social innovation to help address complex human challenges, making parks even more valuable today and for future generations.

Embedded in one of the country’s most visited and influential national parks, we convened leaders and influencers to forge unconventional partnerships to reach beyond traditional park boundaries. Working closely with partners at the intersection of parks and social good, we identified unique opportunities to bring about change locally, regionally, and nationally, from healthcare to community inequities. Every challenge requires a unique approach and the Institute tapped a range of capabilities to identify and develop the best tool, model, or partnership, and to share and scale at all levels from local communities to national policy makers. Many of our most promising ideas emerged from the innovative programming happening within our Golden Gate national parks.
