Few people realize that today’s Lincoln Park Golf Course was once “City Cemetery,” the final resting place for tens of thousands of San Francisco's dead. The non-strenuous walk starts at the corner 34th Ave and Clement Street, proceeds along gentle uphill paths and across some stretches of lawn before ending at the Palace of the Legion of Honor.

The GGRO was formed in the early 1980s to track the Golden Gate Migration, an annual flight of tens of thousands of hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures, birds collectively called "raptors". With the help of over 150 volunteer community scientists each year, we conduct long term studies of the seasonal movements of raptors along the Pacific Coast, to inspire the preservation of California raptor populations.
