Up to 99 percussionists, arrayed across Lands End, pound out rhythms that mix with crashing surf and the songs of birds. This is John Luther Adams’ Inuksuit, performed in a partnership of SFJAZZ and the Parks Conservancy. 

During Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (May), the parks celebrate the community’s contributions—and remember its darkest hours. “Exclusion”—a new exhibition at the Presidio Officers’ Club—looks at the Presidio’s role in the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II…75 years since FDR’s infamous Executive Order 9066.

A free, family-friendly event at Crissy Field on April 23 celebrates the second annual National Park Prescription Day, which showcases public lands and their role nature plays in promoting health and wellbeing.

Learn the story behind Home Land Security, an exhibition in the Presidio exploring complex themes of safety, national identity, and global security. Fittingly, the idea for this exhibition—open until December 18—was born halfway around the world.

Renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz’s new exhibition, “WOMEN: New Portraits,” is only appearing in two cities in the United States. In San Francisco, this free exhibition (through April 17, 2016) will be right here in the Presidio, along Crissy Field. Read on for details and ticket info.
