Climate Conversations: From Emotions to Action
Kelly Sullivan / Parks Conservancy
As climate change continues to unfold in our lives and communities, how we talk about it matters. This summer, the San Francisco Public Library invites you to join Climate Conversations: From Emotions to Action. This welcoming, interactive workshop series teaches climate change basics, explores how it shows up in our lives, and builds collective capacity for meaningful communication and action.
Four sessions blend science with storytelling, personal reflection with community dialogue, and artistic expression with real-world context. Together, we will explore how we feel about climate change, why it is happening, how it shows up locally, and what we can do to respond thoughtfully and meaningfully. Please note that attendance for each workshop is not required. Field trip priority will be given to those who attend two or more days.
Why This Series Matters
Climate change is not just a scientific topic. We experience it emotionally, socially, and personally. Climate Conversations offers space to unpack feelings, build climate literacy, and practice meaningful dialogue that brings together science, lived experience, and communal care. Whether you’re starting your climate learning journey or looking to deepen your communication skills, this series is designed for curiosity, connection, and empowerment.

This program is presented in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library and facilitated by Nopal Reyes, Climate Change Community Engagement Program Manager with the Parks Conservancy. We’re grateful to community members, educators, and local partners who enrich this work with lived experience and place-based wisdom.
