If you haven’t recently visited the parklands nestled around the southern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, bundle up (bring a rain jacket just in case!) and come on out this winter. Two striking new features were finished this fall, and they’re ready for you and your holiday guests to explore.

Be the first to see the design for the New Presidio Parklands, topping the Presidio Parkway tunnels and connecting Crissy Field with the Main Post. After months of public workshops and thousands of ideas from the community, the “schematic design” phase is ready for launch. Learn where and when to attend the big presentation.

By the end of summer 2015, an exciting new trail feature will grace the southern end of the Golden Gate. Visitors will be able to connect directly to the Presidio Coastal Trail, via a striking new bike/pedestrian “bridge” over the historic batteries.

The new 13-acre swath of national parkland, atop the Presidio Parkway tunnels and connecting the Main Post with Crissy Field, represents a major, historic park-making opportunity. James Corner Field Operations—the creative minds who designed the much-admired High Line in New York City—seems up to the task.

On Oct. 4–5, 2014, our friends at the Presidio Trust are inviting the entire community to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly rehabilitated Officers’ Club—San Francisco’s most historic building and now a new cultural destination. Preview eight highlights of this exciting visitor gateway!

The Institute at the Golden Gate’s Healthy Parks, Healthy People work does more than just encourage new communities to utilize neighborhood parks as resources for improving health. This initiative also creates new advocates for the health of public lands, like the Golden Gate National Parks.

After two intensive days of exploration and documentation, the Golden Gate National Parks BioBlitz (March 28–29) captured a vivid snapshot of the unique biodiversity in the parks.
