Nov. 13, 2025

Dear Friends,

We’re grateful to see the end of the longest U.S. government shutdown in history. Through it all, we’ve been reminded of the remarkable strength and resilience of our community.

Because of the steadfast support of Parks Conservancy members and donors, along with dedicated park partners, iconic park sites like Alcatraz, Fort Point, and Muir Woods remained open and welcoming to visitors from around the world.

During these uncertain times, your generosity made it possible for people to continue experiencing the beauty, history, and inspiration of these treasured places.

Now, as rangers return and the heart of our parks comes fully back to life, we know the long-term impacts of the shutdown will take time to understand.

Some of those impacts may not be immediately visible, but progress is already taking shape. Together with our partners at the National Park Service and supporters like you, we’ll continue caring for these special places that connect us, inspire us, and remind us of what’s possible when we come together

Be a Good Steward

Even after the shutdown, it's important to continue doing your part for the future resilience of parks. Please help by practicing Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you bring in, stay on marked trails, and respect wildlife and historic sites. Where possible, take public transit to the parks. Small acts of care make a big difference.
