The towering redwoods of Muir Woods are waiting for you! On eight days in 2026, all national parks and national monuments that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to US citizens, including Muir Woods in the San Francisco Bay Area. Here are the 2026 entrance fee-free dates from the National Park Service:
- February 16 - President's Day
- May 31 - Memorial Day
- June 14 - Flag Day/President Trump's birthday
- July 3-5 - Independence Day weekend
- August 25 - 110th Birthday of the National Park Service
- September 17 - Constitution Day
- October 27 - Theodore Roosevelt's birthday
- November 11 - Veterans Day
Beginning on January 1, 2026, free entrance on these days will be for US citizens and residents only. Nonresidents will pay the regular entrance fee and any applicable nonresident fees. Plan before you go
You’ll still need a reservation for parking (commercial and motor vehicles) and/or seats on the Muir Woods shuttle. Reservations are now required seven days a week, year-round. Parking and shuttle reservations can be made online at GoMuirWoods.com or by phone at 1-800-410-2419.
Only Muir Woods and Alcatraz have fees associated with entrance, you can enjoy free-fee days at all other park sites in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (with exception of parking fees). Plan your next visit to the parks.
