Spring (March–May) is one of the best times to visit the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for wildflower hikes, coastal views, wildlife watching, and seasonal park events. After the winter rains, wildflowers begin to bloom across coastal trails and rolling hills, bringing bursts of color everywhere you look. The hills turn a deep green, wildlife becomes more active, and the landscape feels vibrant and alive—making it a great season for hiking and exploring the parks.
Springtime is also the perfect season to give back. Celebrate National Park Week as well as Earth Day and Spring Days of Service by volunteering, enjoying nature, and contributing to the preservation of these iconic Bay Area destinations.
So, swap out those rain boots—it’s time to lace up your hiking shoes and hit the trails.
