The program mission of Arts in the Parks is provide programs to connect our visitors with creative experiences in the park that are transformative, unexpected, and inspirational.
You’ll get to do hands-on restoration at three park sites: the Oceana Native Plant Nursery, Milagra Ridge, and Mori Point. Restoration activities include planting, transplanting, pot washing, removing invasive plants, and much more.
During the autumn months, our teams of volunteer hawk counters identify and tally 19 species of birds of prey, working under the leadership of an experienced dayleader.
A former program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the Institute at the Golden Gate was conceived to incubate knowledge and innovation in parks. Embedded in one of the country’s most visited and influential national parks, we convened leaders and influencers to forge unconventional partnerships to reach beyond traditional park boundaries.
In November 2015, four staff members from our parks showed a group of 3rd to 5th grade girls that women play an important role in heavy-duty ecological field work. In response, one young student shared her love for working in the mud too—through a poem.
A growing coalition whose mission is to support and harness the collective capacity of youth-serving organizations in the park to benefit young people on their pathway from cradle to career.
