Jie Chen, Manager of Crissy Field Center’s I-YEL Program, was a part of the Center’s Youth Advisory Council in 2001 and designed and implemented with his peers an environmental leadership program for high school students called Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders (I-YEL). During his studies at UC Berkeley on a Bill and Melinda Gates scholarship, he designed and implemented the Urban Trail Blazers program and returned every summer to lead it. After graduating in environmental economics and policy, and integrative biology, Jie now leads the I-YEL program. “I cannot think of a more rewarding job working with S.F. youth who are engaged and passionate to make positive change in their communities, and in a more beautiful setting than in the parks.”
