Touted as San Francisco’s most historic building, the Officers’ Club—once a social hub for U.S. Army officers and their families—has roots that go back to the earliest days of Spanish settlement, in the late 18th century. Now a multifaceted cultural destination, the  Officers’ Club offers free exhibits tracing the Presidio's past and present, free live music and talks, weekend crafts for kids, and school field trips.

Several former guards and other Alcatraz residents embodied the living history of the island at the last formal reunion of the Alcatraz Alumni Association. But the stories of Alcatraz residents will still be told.

'This is your land': Special naturalization ceremony at Crissy Field

In a special ceremony at Crissy Field, 32 young people were honored as new U.S. citizens and the next generation of public lands and public library users. They heard from author Dave Eggers, who said “this country’s greatness depends on you."

Monterey Bay Aquarium’s blue whale art installation

A life-sized, 82-foot blue whale art installation sculpture was exhibited at the west end of Crissy Field. Made from recycled plastic collected in California, the sculpture sought to address the serious issue of plastic pollution threatening our oceans.

Be among the first to own the newest iconic Golden Gate National Parks image, as Ocean Beach gets the Michael Schwab design treatment. The image is the 21st in the series, and highlights the serene waves and coastal colors of the popular spot.
