With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s a time to show some love for those who have made a positive and lasting impression on our lives. Here in the Golden Gate National Parks, one incredible community stands out—our PARK VOLUNTEERS.

The federal government shutdown also shuttered our park volunteer programs. Learn how many hours of stewardship we unfortunately lost—and how you can now help us get back on track, with a big planting season just around the corner!

Three students from Ex’pression College lent their talent this semester to produce a commercial, aimed at youth, for the park’s volunteer programs. We think they deserve an “A”—and two thumbs up! Watch their awesome work; we think you’ll agree.

As the Conservancy’s Park Stewardship Program approaches its 20th anniversary, we’re celebrating places transformed by the program, such as Mori Point, and people who have made the transformation possible, like Ron Maykel. Learn more about one of the park’s “renaissance men.”

If you’ve got free time, come volunteer in the parks! Not only is it free, but it’s a fun, rewarding, and healthy way to spend a summer day. And it’s easy to get involved. Give volunteering a try—you’ll be glad you did!

The park has partnered with SFSU and CCSF to engage college students in semester-long Academic Internships. The spring semester pilot in 2013 has been an incredible success and we’ve had the honor to work with some amazing young adults. Hear them share their experiences!

It’s time to head out to your nearby national parklands for lots of spring cleaning and restoration. Celebrate Earth Day, National Volunteer Week, National Youth Service Day, and National Park Week by pitching in for your Golden Gate National Parks. There’s something for everyone!
